Meet Sid Jain, Senior Project Engineer for e2o.

As an Electrical and Electronics Engineer by profession, Sid joined e2o in 2021 and has quickly become an instrumental part of the team and the growth of the asset services business, assisting with strategy development and implementation, leading tenders and client feasibility studies, managing projects and even being a vendor representative on site supporting commissioning activities.

Over his career, Sid has worked in roles in project engineering, corporate development and strategy, mergers and acquisitions, bid management and management consulting across the utility networks, renewable energy, oil and gas and telecommunications industries, as well as in tertiary education.

However, it was the engineering and construction industry that interested Sid the most…

“I chose the engineering and construction industry because I have always enjoyed building things and having a balance of office and site work. I think it’s a real special feeling to be able to point to something and say that you helped to build it.

I chose to join e2o and Clough because of their reputation as a market leader in the industry and being pioneers in what they do, challenging themselves to do what others think is impossible.

e2o and Clough are delivering very exciting, nation-building projects and have a great platform for growth which will ultimately lead to greater growth opportunities for their people.

Working with a motivated and ambitious team, I have the opportunity to get in at the ground floor and help to shape the e2o business for Clough. It is a great opportunity to develop and implement the strategy for the company. I also have the opportunity to further my project management skills by leading small projects which will in time lead to opportunities to take on bigger projects. My main focus industries are utilities especially power networks, mining and minerals.

I am passionate about the company’s commitment to being part of the community and supporting different community initiatives. I have had the opportunity to get involved with the Boards Up for Cancer event supporting Solaris Cancer Care at Scarborough earlier this year and social basketball supporting Mates in Construction. This is great because not only does it give the community visibility of the company, but it also it is a great way to get to know colleagues away from a work setting.

Outside of work I really enjoy cycling and ride to work almost daily (although not so much recently as it has been raining). I enjoy board sports especially wakeboarding and snowboarding and social sports such as basketball, netball, tennis and squash; all of which I am varying degrees of average at. I have been known to be a decent chef, although constantly learning and adding to my repertoire. Additionally, I am an avid reader and traveller, through the pandemic I was able to see a lot more of Australia than I would have otherwise.

The advice that I was given by one of my earliest mentors was to always do something different every 2-3 years in the early stages of your career, work very hard to become efficient at it and then move on to do something else. This stops you from becoming stagnant in your growth and this advice has certainly helped to shape my career.

My advice to anyone recently starting their careers would be to say yes to every opportunity they are given, even if it doesn’t align with where you want to go as everything you do, no matter how esoteric will shape your professional career.”
